Search and Rescue Seminar followed by Certification July 26 – 27

This seminar is for Police K-9, Search and Rescue personnel, as well as the general public interested in certifying in Area Search, Tracking or Cadaver.

Day one will be an equipment check followed by an area search or tracking problem. For beginners this will be the day to learn. We will cover equipment, land navigation, and deployment techniques.

Day two will be certification day. Certification is free and everyone attending will get a chance at obtaining a certification. This is a nationwide certification.

Certifying officials are current and/or former law enforcement K9 trainers/handlers.

After certification you will have the option to be put on a list for possible deployment.

All certifications are designed for real world application.
Certification will determine two things:

Has the K-9 been trained to locate the scent or perform the task for which it is certifying?

Can the Handler deploy and read the K-9?
Meeting the other requirements is the responsibility of the individual handler:

Equipment considerations such as special types of packs, the amount of water carried, first aid requirements, food, tools, etc.
Team specific procedures such as deployment requirements, call out procedures, etc.
Advanced training techniques such as wilderness navigation, compass reading, ICS training, etc.
Environmental considerations such as mountainous terrain, avalanche conditions, boat deployments, swampy areas, rubble work etc.
