Do you put food on the track in your tracking program?
We use food as a distraction, not as a training aid. We use SIAB when a young dog needs help tracking. We also start them on pavment to prevent them from tracking the ground disturbance.
Do you have a Guarantee?
Training Guarantees and support for the life of the dog!
1. Phone support 7 days a week for any behavioral or training problems.
2. Free private lessons if you are having trouble working with your dog.
3. Your dog receives free maintenance training twice a year.
4. If your dog does not achieve the training standard during the Program up to an
extra four days of training will be given free of charge.
5. Dogs that fail the training Program will be free of all training costs.
After your training, my dog is doing great on the FEMA diamond. What is the next step?
Use shorter place boards, then try one inch foam pads. The last step is to paint the markers on the grass. The goal is for the dog to follow hand signals with no visual of the place boards.
Do you cross train search dogs in Cadaver?
We will not cross train search dogs in cadaver. Despite the scientific studies of the negative effects of cross training a search dog, many search teams and trainers still cross train in cadaver. Not only is a cross trained dog less effective at finding live subjects, they also become very depressed when asked to find cadaver. The emphasis of a good search dog should be on the living during a rescue, not the dead bodies. Cadaver trained dogs should stick with cadaver and nothing else.
What is the best age for starting my dog on e-collar training? We start pups as early as 8 weeks old, or as soon as they are able to physically hold up the receiver. We start training dogs under 16 weeks using all positive e-collar training techniques that are exclusive to Pack Leader. Most e-collar trainers never heard of all positive e-collar training. We will show you how to teach that puppy to come the first time, every time, with no collar corrections.
Why is the price not listed for tracking and trailing? Due to the different requirements each search dog might have, we do not have a fixed rate on our specialty training.
Do I need to supply my own scent for my scent dogs?
Artificial scent for breaking or training is not included in the hourly fee. The price for artificial scent can change from time to time. We will train your dog with any scent you provide or you can check the price on a specific scent from vendors we use on our links page or visit http://www.gundogsupply.com/ What is the helper fee on my invoice?
All of our scent and protection K-9 training requires a helper fee. The price of the helper fee depends on the type of work we are doing with the dog. If you already have a trained helper who works frequently with the dog we will use them when requested.
Do you have a discount rate?
We offer our K-9 training half price to all police K-9 Units. We can also do seminars for the entire deptartment for one low price. On the Fire Deptartment? Get the same discount on all of our K-9 training.
